Guided hike through the Progionette wildlife reserve on the trail of the griffon vulture
DESCRIPTION
Explore Porto Conte Park in Alghero, in north-western Sardinia, with an exciting trek in the footsteps of the griffon vulture. Enjoy the evocative scenery and spectacular views over the clear waters of Capo Caccia, inside the Prigionette Wildlife Reserve. Your guide will tell you many anecdotes of an area rich in history and unspoiled nature, over which the elegant griffon vulture dominates the air. Inside the park, you will find docile animals in the wild such as horses, donkeys, fallow deer, and wild boar along the way. At one time, inmates of the agricultural penal colony worked in this area. Today it is a wildlife reserve that is home to various animals, including a colony of griffon vultures, which nest on the cliff here. Hike along the trail of rocky paths and forest tracks, to a a tranquil are of the wildlife reserve to reach some World War II settlements, hidden in the lush Mediterranean maquis. During the trek, there will be at least three stops of 15 minutes each at the following stops: Guixera promontory, Cala San Lorenzo, and the Guixera Forts.
