About this tour

This is our morning half day tour for those of you mostly interested on history and Montserrat. If you are short on time in the city and don’t want to leave Catalonia without exploring the beautiful scenery in Montserrat, this tour is for you.

We introduce you to our only tour focusing exclusively on the fascinating Montserrat mountain range, one hour inland from Barcelona. While accompanied by an English-speaking local guide, you will discover all the wonders this popular highlight has to show in just one morning. Join us and get amazed at the views from this majestic 11th century monastery!

Meet us at central Barcelona and board one of our comfortable coaches as part of a reduced group led by a Castlexperience local guide. We are headed to Montserrat’s foothill, where you will experience one of the favourite activities: using the super scenic cogwheel train to ascend to the monastery. You won’t forget the views!

The cogwheel train will land you at the very core of the mountain: the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey, which you are to learn everything about thanks to your local guide. Ask everything you want; our guides are filled with knowledge of the area and its history. They will also provide with all the necessary information you need to decide how to invest your free time best, which comes just following.

Queuing to see the famous Black Madonna of Montserrat face to face, visiting the interesting art museum, stuffed with great surprises by artists such as Dali or Caravaggio, taking a funicular to go to higher parts of the mountain, or just hiking along one of the many trails to keep on enjoying the views… the options for your free time are just too many!*

Ride back to Barcelona after this fulfilling experience to be dropped off at the same spot you were picked earlier in the morning, at the city’s heart.

Very much enjoyed the wine tour, the montserrat monastery was beautiful and we were lucky with good weather. Jerai was very friendly and had a nice demeanor. A good way to spend time outside of Barcelona centre.

I have been staying in Barcelona for the past couple of weeks and this is one of my favorite things I have done so far. The trip up to Montserrat was beautiful and the wine was amazing. The whole experience was so fun and Gus was such an amazing guide full of funny jokes and lots of knowledge. I would recommend this to anyone even if you are only in Barcelona for a couple days.

We did Montserrat + lunch and wine. Had a really good experience with Iván as guide. He made the whole trip more enjoyable being humorous and we all had great conversations. Highly recommend this experience, and if you’re lucky and Get Iván as your guide 😊
