If you have only one day at disposal in Naples this is the best tour to choose! It collects the most famous places of the region: the ruins of the Roman city of Pompeii and Capri, the most beautiful island of Italy!
We will reach Capri in just 30 minutes by hydrofoil: the views from the boat will take your breath away! Capri packs a wide range of attractions and charms into a small space. Upon arrival at the Marina Grande, the funicular takes you up to the town of Capri. You could easily spend all your time here, visiting the many cafés, designer stores and artisanal shops. Alternatively you could head to Anacapri, about half a mile away and take the chair lift up to Monte Solaro for panoramic views over the coastline. There is plenty of transport or you could choose to enjoy the pleasant walk. Another option would be to visit the Giardini di Augusto, the botanical gardens which showcase the flora for which the island is famous. It also offers excellent views over the island as a whole. You could spend your time here visiting Roman ruins or exploring the island’s natural beauty, in particular the iconic Faraglioni, the three spurs of rock off its southern coast. There’s so much to do that you’re sure to work up an appetite for the lunch you’ll enjoy here before setting off back to Naples for the drive to Pompeii. Here, you’ll immerse yourself in Roman life, as though you really were living in the 1st century. All life in Pompeii was destroyed on a fateful day in 79 AD, when Mount Vesuvius erupted and obliterated the people of the time in a fury of heat and ash. The ash, however, not only hid the town from the eyes of the world, but also protected it from the effects of wind and rain, with the result that when the remains were uncovered, they were in perfect condition and many of the town’s buildings had suffered relatively little damage in the eruption. Your guide will tell you all about the history of the period and will be happy to answer any questions.
