Know Safari to the Clouds Tour Northwest Argentina from Salta
We will start enjoying the “Camino a las Nubes”: in this first part, we will follow the tracks of the famous Train to the Clouds, admiring this engineering work initiated in the 1920’s. This route crosses the Quebrada del Toro to San Antonio de los Cobres, where we will have breakfast.
After this, we will start the route that takes us to Salinas Grandes. A completely different landscape from the one we saw in the first part of the trip and with many possibilities of seeing llamas and vicuñas.
In Salinas, we will witness one of the most beautiful salars of Argentina. Here, with the help of a local guide, we will have time to tour this great sea of salt and include a very special visit to the Ojos del Salar (subject to weather conditions or limited in the summer season by the native communities that manage the visits). The local guide will also explain about the interesting process of table salt extraction.
After enjoying this salt mirror, we will start with the third section, crossing the Cuesta de Lipán, an unforgettable scenic route, with a descent of 2,000 meters in 35 km. There you will see the transition from the Puna desert to the fertility of the most humid valleys. After this journey, we will arrive at the town of Purmamarca, where we will make a technical stop.
From here, we will start our return to the city of Salta.
