Explore the fascinating Gorropu canyon in wildest Sardinia that draws thousands of tourists from around the world
Set off from Cala Gonone in eastern Sardinia for an exciting hike that will take you inside Italy’s deepest canyon and among the deepest in Europe: the Gorropu Gorge.
Aboard an off-road vehicle you will reach the beginning of the trekking trail in Dorgali. From here your adventure will begin along the riverbed that gave rise to the canyon within the lush Mediterranean scrub and, step by step, you will see the imposing gorge reveal itself in front of your eyes. Inside the gorge you will be speechless as you admire the imposing rock walls and white limestone boulders polished by the elements.
Before returning, you will enjoy a delicious lunch of typical Sardinian products in front of the majestic canyon.
If you are a nature lover, hiking Gorropu is one of those things to do at least once in your life!
The path to the canyon is beaten and presents no difficulties. Inside the canyon, however, you will be walking on rock, scree and the passage becomes difficult as you get deeper into the canyon.
Children are allowed if already accustomed to hiking. For younger children, a baby carrier is recommended.
