our half-day tour of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) begins at 9:00 am with a hotel pickup in Cairo or Giza by your tour guide. The Main Exhibition Hall showcases four key crafts that shaped Egyptian civilization: pottery, woodworking, textiles, and ornamentation. Highlights include the world’s oldest prosthetic toe, a 30,000-year-old human skeleton, the last Kaaba Cover (Kiswa al-Kaaba) made in Egypt during President Nasser’s era, and the Mahmal, used to transport the cover to Saudi Arabia. The NMEC is the world’s first museum to offer a comprehensive overview of Egyptian civilization, from prehistory to the modern era, displaying artifacts from the Predynastic and Ancient Egyptian periods and beyond.
