Highlights include the world’s oldest prosthetic toe, a 30,000-year-old human skeleton, the last Kaaba Cover (Kiswa al-Kaaba) made in Egypt during President Nasser’s era, and the Mahmal, used to transport the cover to Saudi Arabia. The NMEC is the world’s first museum to offer a comprehensive overview of Egyptian civilization, from prehistory to the modern era, displaying artifacts from the Predynastic and Ancient Egyptian periods and beyond.
