Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi. In the evening, you will meet your mountain guide for a detailed briefing, gear check, and final preparations. Arrival Tip: We recommend arriving at least a day before the trek to allow time for rest and acclimatization.

After breakfast, we drive to Marangu Gate (1,870m), where we complete park registration and meet our trekking team. The trek begins through lush rainforests, with towering ficus trees, giant ferns, and occasional blue monkeys. After 4–5 hours of trekking, we arrive at Mandara Hut (2,720m), a cozy wooden hut with bunk beds. We leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone, with scenic views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks. The trail passes through giant lobelias and everlasting flowers, offering a unique alpine atmosphere. After about 5–6 hours of trekking, we reach Horombo Hut (3,720m), where trekkers from different routes converge. Today’s trek is more challenging as we enter the alpine desert, crossing the Saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks. The trail is dry and barren, with strong winds and high altitude. We reach Kibo Hut (4,703m) in the afternoon, where we rest and have an early dinner before preparing for the midnight summit attempt*. Midnight Summit Attempt At midnight, we begin the final ascent to Uhuru Peak. The trail is steep and covered in loose volcanic scree. After 5–6 hours of slow, determined trekking, we reach Gilman’s Point (5,685m) on the crater rim. From here, another 1–2 hours of trekking leads to Uhuru Peak (5,895m)—the highest point in Africa! After celebrating and taking in the breathtaking sunrise views over glaciers and the African plains, we descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest and then continue down to Horombo Hut.
